The Cake Cutting

My daughter, Sarah, celebrated her 2nd wedding anniversary in June.  We are still working on her wedding pictures.  We are on album #3.

This is the layout she and I worked on together and finally finished.

The Cake Cutting

I don’t usually do this kind of block layout, but I think it turned out nicely.

Fun Tag

I spent the past weekend in York, PA with a couple of good friends at Quick Quotes, Private Reserve.  We had a blast.  Put together an entire album with 20 pages.  I just need to add pictures.

We also did this cute tag.

Private Reserve Tag

We used Viva inka gold metallic rubs on chipboard.  This was a first for me.  I didn’t like using it, but I did like the results.

We also used the paints on some of the pages we did.  This is one of my favorites.

You can see the shine better in this picture.

Already thinking about next year.  Can’t wait.

Week 6.  Still hanging in there and so are 3 others.  The sketch for this week:

Sketch 6

These were the other rules to follow:

1.  Stay true to the sketch.

2.  Monochromatic.

3.  Use a border punch.

4.  Use at least 2 hand-made flowers.

5.  Use bling.

At least we started out with a two page layout and the extras seemed easy enough to follow.  So here is what I came up with.Betzy

I wasn’t really sure I liked it, but I followed all the rules and stayed true to the sketch.  After I submitted my layout for the challenge Sarah and I decided to play around with it and this is what we did.  Now this, I liked.  More my style.

Which do you like better?

Look at Me!

On to Week 5.  This is the layout sketch for the challenge.  We lost one person going into this week.  How many more weeks do you think we will all last?

Sketch 5

Besides the sketch, these were the rules for this week:
1. You need to STAY TRUE to the sketch!
2. Use something recycled
3.  Some sort of faux stitching
4.  Distressing
5.  Fussy cutting
6. Use ONLY shades of BLUE papers (including your base).  Can be store-bought patterned papers, cardstock or handmade papers.

Staying true to the sketch was one of the hardest things I had to do.  First of all, I didn’t like the sketch.  It is just not my style.  But I stuck with it, and with some help from my daughter, Sarah, this is what we came up with.Look at Me!

I stayed as true to the sketch as possible.  The little dark blue dots were left over centers from a sticker sheet that I had and the ribbons were from my chocolate Easter bunny.  They were the recycled items.  I used the faux stitching around the circle edge and I distressed the circle.  The flowers on the frame were fussy cut from a patterned paper and I used only shades of blue.

After it was finished, I decided that it grew on me and it wasn’t that bad after all.  Will I ever do another one like it?  Doubtful, unless it comes up again in another challenge.  This is one layout that I did not make another page for.  The picture is of my niece, Sophia.  I will give the page to her and I’m sure she’ll love it.

I Love Basketball

I think I am a little behind in posting my challenge layouts.  So here is sketch layout 4 for the Last Scrapper Standing Challenge.

Sketch 4

Besides following the sketch you need to use AT LEAST ONE of the TECHNIQUES listed below in your layout.
Hand Stitching
Mixed Alphas
The sketch itself wasn’t too bad and using one of the techniques and 2 embellishments were pretty easy too.  This is the layout I created for this challenge.
And I made it a two page layout.
I Love Basketball
I used the torn paper as my technique and then for the embellishments I used a banner, bling, and mixed alphas.

Bridge of Flowers

Week 3 of the Last Scrapper Standing.  Here is the sketch layout that needed to be followed.  We are down to 8 challengers.

The following needed to be used on the layout:

Border Punch

2 Different Patterned Papers

Handmade Flower or Embellishment

Ribbon or Lace

 2 + Photos

At first I didn’t know what to do with this sketch.  But after I picked my photos and paper it came together pretty easily.  I like the end result.

And I had to have the second page to go with it, of course.

We stopped in Deerfield, MA, on our way home from our Boston trip to visit this beautiful Bridge of Flowers.

Butterfly Kisses

This is the layout sketch for week 2 of Last Scrapper Standing.  There are 9 of us still going after week 1.

We needed to include at least 3 of the following:

Stick Pin

This is my layout.  I had so much fun making this.  I just love the bright colors and the flower paper.  I used embossing on the mat, butterflies, ribbon across the bottom half, and a flower in the girl’s hat besides the flower paper.

And of course I finished up by adding a second page.

When we were planning on stopping at the Magic Wings Butterfly Conservatory, my daughter Lucy was not impressed.  For some reason she was afraid of butterflies.  As you can see, by the end of the visit, butterflies were no longer scary.  Grandma helped her get over her fear.
